Laptops with 64 GB RAM aren’t for regular users. This RAM size is overkill for most of them: first, it costs a ton of money, and second, it needs a lot of physical space. Therefore, the laptops which have it are almost always thick and heavy.

To have a Pc with 64 GB RAM is common these days, however the same is not true for laptops. The rare breed of laptops that have it is usually built to serve a particular purpose, and are useful for a particular class of users. Engineers, Data Scientists, and Competitive gamers make up the majority of this class. If you find yourself in one of these professions, or you are a computer geek who fancies a robust machine, this is the right article for you.

We have enlisted the top 10 Laptops that come packed with LOTS of RAM. Also added is a brief buying guide to help you identify critical components while buying such laptops. But before we proceed further, let’s address a few pertinent questions at this point.

Is 64 GB the maximum RAM we can get in a laptop?

No, the magic number is 128. But laptops with such a huge memory size are extremely rare and cost an arm and a leg. For practical purpose, such laptops are only useful for video rendering, or 3D modeling, as they consume a lot of memory.

Why should you look for a laptop with 64 GB RAM?

Well, you don’t have to. We prefer laptops over PCs for their portability as no matter how powerful a laptop can be, it could not close the gap in performance at an affordable price.

However, if your work involves dealing with large data files, and especially if it has something to do with 3D modeling and Video Rendering, you can’t help yourself with a low memory machine. In such cases finding a laptop with a massive memory becomes an absolute necessity.

Some of the tasks that require a high RAM size include CPU-intensive gaming, professional video editing, batch image processing, working with mammoth databases, and running more than one virtual machine.

Keep in mind that you will have to pay an extremely high amount for a 64 GB laptop, so better adjust your budget for it. Alternatively, you can buy a PC, or better still, a laptop with 16 or 32 GB built-in storage that can be upgraded to 64 GB. You will also have to make sure that the laptop has more than one slot for it.

Are Laptops with 64 GB RAM Really Worth It?

It depends.

For tech enthusiasts, a boosted laptop performance might bring momentary joy. But for practical purposes, most of them will find it simply a waste of money. For casual run-of-the-mill tasks, 64 GB RAM’s performance is quite indistinguishable from its 32 GB cousin.

However, things are going to be different for engineers and all those professionals who have to run memory-hungry applications. Having 64 GB RAM in the laptop will increase the system’s capacity to load and run big fat files to a great amount. System lags and freezing problems will become a thing of the past. Huge memory size can literally save hours of work for them.

What components to pay attention to in a 64 GB RAM laptop?

A buying guide for a laptop with 64 GB RAM is no different than a guide to finding a high-performance laptop. However, a few features need due consideration while making the final purchasing decision. Let’s sort out these features for you.

CPU:

The Central Processing Unit(aka CPU) is the real hero behind the drama going inside a computer. RAM is just the sidekick which can never take the lead role.

For a solid performance, you can never make an exception for the CPU as it does nearly all of the computing work and has the most to do with the overall speed of the machine. An ideal high-end laptop will come equipped with a  multi-core i7 processor of the latest generation (or an AMD equivalent) to ensure a seamless workflow.

Apart from the number of cores, the most important features to consider include the clock speed and type of threading of the CPU. For lightning-fast speed, the clock speed should be as high as possible and the cores must have hyper-threading

GPU:

As the name suggests Graphics Processing Unit, or GPU, manages the graphic side of the machine. In a high-end laptop, you will almost always get a dedicated graphics card

No matter how powerful the CPU is or huge the memory size is,  a few tasks cannot be handled efficiently by a laptop without a powerful graphic card. They include 3D rendering, video editing, and GPU-intensive gaming.

For your information, a discrete GPU comes with its own integrated RAM also known as VRAM in addition to the dedicated RAM of the Laptop.

Storage:

RAM stores the data that is repeatedly consumed by the CPU so the latter doesn’t have to access the permanent storage drive for it.

A higher RAM size will store a huge amount of data at a time thus limiting the repeated transfer of data between it and the hard drive. But that doesn’t overshadow the importance of a fast hard drive. If you can afford, go for the NVME SSD drives as they will give you boosted performance on a laptop.

Cooling Power:

When running on its full capacity, a beast of a laptop expels heat straight out of hell. Any powerful machine with a not-so-impressive cooling system is calling for trouble. Whenever you decide to push such a machine to the limits, it will result in the failure of a critical component.

Cooling power is one of the most overlooked features in a high-spec laptop. But you cannot afford to ignore it as otherwise, you will have to say goodbye to the longevity of the machine. It just could not sustain for long with it.

Reviews:

All the laptops reviewed here have  64 GB RAM. Not a single one of them comes in less than $1000 so be prepared to spend more than that.

This may be a sweeping generalization: All these laptops are heavy and thick when compared against modern standards of portability. They have at least one year of portability and have a robust built-up. The minimum resolution you are going to find is FHD (1080p), whereas the maximum resolution is UHD (2160p), also known as 4k display.

Before we get to the reviews, it is important to know that not all the laptops in our list come with 64 GB RAM preinstalled by the manufacturers. Majority of them are upgraded by the sellers thus voiding the warranty by the manufacturing company. However, to keep you on the same side, we have added only those laptops that are backed by sellers warranty, if not manufacturing warranty.

Hp Envy 17t is made for business professionals who are accustomed to working in tons of tabs. Thanks to the 64 GB RAM, it never disappoints while handling scores of tasks at the same time.

This laptop is packed with 10th generation Intel Core i7-10510U processor to effortlessly manage all everyday tasks of regular home and office users. Well, this Ice lake Gen processor may have a disadvantage in clock speed, when compared to its cousins from intel H series, it consumes less power and runs cooler.

The choice of graphic card is consistent with the design mantra of hp. The company wants this laptop to consume less power, and therefore, to not overheat. Nothing could have been better than the lower-end dedicated Nvidia GeForce MX250. The graphic card uses its own 2 GB memory to provide 3.5 X boost in performance, over integrated graphics, for competitive gaming and running photo and video editing applications.

As expected in a business laptop, the hp envy comes with a massive 2 TB storage capacity. Half of it comprises lightning fast, yet expensive, SSD, and the other half is relatively slower, yet cheap, HDD drive.

The 17.3-inch multi-touch FHD display has a great entertainment value attached to it. With a thin bezel, IPS display you will get a high contrast ratio and vibrant colors on this laptop. It covers 98 % of sRGB gamut making it a suitable choice for creative professionals to run Adobe applications on it. The glossy coating on the display may cause reflection in direct sunlight, therefore limits its usage.

On the negative side, this laptop is a little heavy even to the standard of a high-end machine. Also, it has pretty short battery life.

Gaming rigs could not be thinner and lighter than this MSI laptop. It comes packed with the most powerful processor and graphic card combo, and runs on its full 64 GB memory capacity.

The hexacore, Intel 9th Gen i7-9750H is a power-hungry processor that managed to the list of most preferred chips in the 2022 gaming, workstation and other high-end laptops. It is almost impossible to pack this beast in a thin laptop for the cooling it requires while running at full throttle, and yet MSI managed to do so.

This laptop is featuring state-of-the-art NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 that comes with its own 6GB of GDDR6 RAM. As per the claims of the company, this card took 10 years to enter the market for its revolutionary real-time ray tracing technology. By the dint of it, this MSI laptop is bound to provide more realistic lighting, shadows, and effects in gameplay.

MSI has ditched the slower HDD drives altogether for a better SSD Drive on this laptop. 1 TB is a pretty handsome amount of storage.

Surprisingly for a gaming laptop, this one has an extremely thin bezel display. The 15.6 inches Full HD display can run at max of 120 Hz fps. If you are a passionate game, you can’t help getting overwhelmed with excitement.

You might be guessing how MSI managed to pack two beasts (Intel 9th Gen i7-9750H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 graphics) inside a machine that doesn’t fail. Well, the answer is Cooler Boost 5 technology. The laptop has fit inside two fans and multiple heat pipes to dedicatedly cover each and every power-hungry component.

Finally, one feature stands head and shoulder above all other features: the ultra-slim design. You will find numerous other laptops with the same specs, but no one has managed to achieve what MSI did with this portable firepower gaming laptop.

By judging it by its features, Asus Studio book pro has a lot in common with the gaming rig we enlisted above. However, far from a machine for gaming enthusiasts, this work station is built to cater to the needs of creative professionals. Its head-to-head competitors include Dell precision and Hp Z book.

Speaking of the processor, it features the 9th generation Intel Core i7 chip that is Hexa core and has hyperthreading. To give you a perspective, it is included in the top 10 powerful processors by the company. (Intel). There is no possible computing task that this laptop cannot do.

NVIDIA RTX 2060 is a top-notch dedicated graphic card that adds 6GB VRAM to 64 memory of the laptop. Though marketed as a gaming chip, this can effortlessly handle high profile tasks including 3D rendering and VR simulations.

Asus has ditched the slow HDD storage for good. Instead, it went with complete SSD storage in this laptop. You will get 1 TB of fast storage drive that can be upgraded to 3 TB.

Though keyboard and design might distinguish it as a workstation for creative professionals, the telling feature that actually makes it one is the 17-inch FHD display. The matte finish might seem to water down the display colors, but it is a definite help when working in a high brightness environment.

Asus has managed to fit inside two powerful full-sized fans in this laptop with three heat pipes to keep the heat to the minimum. The technology works perfectly fine.

Asus Studio’s book is the best 64 GB laptop in our list for creative professionals. However, 64 is not the limit, you can upgrade the RAM to 128 GB.

Other features include:

  • An Advanced touchpad
  • Tactile keyboard
  • Metal design for sturdiness

If you don’t take thickness, weight, and of course the price as an issue, Hp Omen is a way more powerful laptop with 64 GB RAM, upgradable to 128, than the MSI GF-65. You can take a hint from its 8 cores processor and blazing fast Max-Q graphics.

Intel i9-9880HK is the top-of-the-line processor by Intel that features in only premium machines. The company has seriously pushed the boundaries with this ultra-fast processor that has 8 cores, 16 thread(virtual cores) and run at a max speed of 5GHz. It meets, or even exceeds, the requirements of all CPU-intensive AAA games with its absolute power.

Hp Omen comes with several graphics unit combinations to cater to all kinds of users: budget to elite. The model under consideration has the best of them all: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 (Max-Q) with 8 GB VRAM. It is better than all the GTX graphics cards by Nvidia. Keep in mind that Max-Q cards give up a little power to be more energy-efficient.

It has 2 TB of  SATA SSD storage which despite being faster than HDD drives, is 5 times slower than a NVMe SSD and 2 times slower than PCIe SSD.

The 4k display this laptop is featuring is the gold standard for laptop screens. This ultra HD screen is supported by IPS  technology for wide viewing angles, an extremely sharp display, and vivid color. The real shocker, by the way, is the fact that it can support high FPS of 144hz, or even up to 240 Hz.

In the end, a word of appreciation for the Hp Omen for its highly efficient cooling system. The two fans run at three different speeds to give you power-efficient cooling for a wide range of usages: long gaming sessions and run-of-the-mill tasks.

Hp Omen, by all means, and by all standards, is one beast of a gaming laptop with only one major downside: it costs a fortune

Acer Nitro 7 is a relatively thin and considerably cheap gaming laptop with all the essentials for tear-free gameplay. MSI GF-65 beats in all respects, from slim design to high-end components, except for the price.

We have already discussed enough the 9th Gen Core i7 processor while reviewing MSI GF-65 and Asus Studio book pro. To remind you, it was considered the best processor for gaming rigs and workstations in 2022 for its powerful, but not so energy-efficient,  performance throughout the year.

For high-end gaming laptops, NVIDIA GTX 1650 is just a shame as it doesn’t have ray-tracing technology for more realistic gameplay and is only capable of running mid-range games. However, Nitro 7 completely justifies it by keeping the laptop price low

256 GB PCI3 SSD storage is for installing OS and other frequently used applications and gaming files, whereas, you also get 1 TB of HDD storage to store big media files. 64 GB, the memory size which this laptop comes with, is the maximum size the laptop can support.

The 15.6-inch FHD IPS display is perfect for mid-level gaming and entry-level video editing as you get 144hz of solid frame rate and a 97 percent sRGB coverage. You would experience a ghosting free gameplay and enough color depth for meaningful editing.

This laptop is featuring cool boost technology which means you can temper the speed of the fans on intensive gaming sessions. To give you a perspective, cool boost mode turns up the speed of the fans to provide nearly 10% gain over auto cooling

This laptop may not be the lightest gaming machine available in the market, but definitely one of the few thin ones. The small adapter size along with the slim design makes it highly portable.

If MSI GF-65 is an ultra-thin gaming rig, Dell XPS 15 7590 is the thinnest most powerful workstation available in the market. Well, this may work fine for data crunching and running engineering applications, the price can only be justified if you use it for heavy-duty creative tasks including, but not limited to, video editing.

This model comes in two different processor types. One latest, but expensive; one old, but cheaper. What you get is the latest 9th Generation Intel Core i9-9980HK processor that boasts a clock speed of 5MHz to effortlessly run all CPU-intensive applications. It supports the max RAM size of 128 GB in a laptop, and 4k Display.

On the graphics side, it is featuring a lower mid-range chip: NVIDIA GTX 1650  with 4GB VRAM. At medium settings, this can smoothly run all graphic-intensive games. Though it is a workstation for professionals and not for die-hard gamers, one couldn’t blame it for low graphics.

PCIe Solid State Drive lies in between Nvme and SATA drives in speed, though it is way better than HDD. 2 TB storage is definitely a treat for those who love max. speed and space in harddrive at the same time.

Though it stands out from the crowd in many aspects, the selling point of this laptop is its 15.6″ 4K UHD OLED display, which is literally second to none when it comes to stunning displays on laptops. OLED is a superior technology to IPS which means you will get a significant improvement in contrast ratio, color saturation, and overall image quality.

As far as the cooling is concerned, you can run the laptop at full throttle without worrying about overheating. Two fans, and multiple fans, fitted inside this laptop takes care of it. However, you won’t get cooling boost technology or the privilege to alter with the fan speed of the laptop.

CPU: 9th Generation Intel Core i7-9750H (6-core) | GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1650 (4GB VRAM) | Storage: 1 TB SATA Solid State Drive | Screen Size and Display :15.6″ Full HD (1920×1080)  | Weight (lb): 3.75  |  Dimensions inches: 14.2 x 9.7 x 0.7 | Warranty: 1 Year Limited warranty

This Lenovo Thinkpad X1 is a budget competitor of Dell XPS 15 and Macbook Pro with features somewhat inferior to both. However, the most powerful variant of this series matches, or even surpass, the performance of both its rivals.

The intel core i7-9750H is the CPU of choice for a number of high-end laptops. Even our highly controlled and selective list could not manage to add laptops without this particular processor making the majority. We have already added in detail its ins and outs in other reviews. For

NVIDIA GTX 1650 graphics is a mid-range graphic chip by the company. More powerful RTX chips dwarf GTX in performance primarily due to their advanced ray-tracing technology. However, you will be able to get decent performance when running demanding games at low settings.

1 TB SATA Solid State Drive (SSD)is a significant improvement over Hard Disk Drives, but as mentioned earlier SATA drives is the slowest type you can get in SSDs.

Speaking of the screen, it has nothing extraordinary for users. 15.6-inch FHD screen is what you should at least expect in a highly-priced laptop. However, if you are willing to spend a little extra, you can get a 4k display with unmatched picture quality.

Lenovo never disappoints when it comes to running its machines at optimum temperature even when pushed to the extremes. Thinkpad X1 has maintained the tradition. It has two cooling fans and several heat pipes, a common feature in high-end laptops, to effectively cool down each power-hungry, fire-spitting component

Finally, this laptop is extremely lightweight judging by the standard of powerful workstations which, in sharp contrast, are notorious for being bulky and heavy.

Hp Z book 15 is a powerful workstation for engineers and number-crunching experts. If you ignore the weight, and the expensive price tag(hard to ignore), this laptop has enough firepower to chew down tough computing tasks.

As far as the processor is concerned, the 8th gen intel core i-9 processors are a slight short in performance to the 9th generation of the same series. That is why this laptop comes second to Dell XPS 15, and other high-end laptops, in performance. Also, it has its enormous weight and bulky size as its downside.

The  Quadro P1000 graphic chip with  4GB VRAM is dwarfed by the GTX 1060, so you should forget playing high title games on this laptop. By the way, it is unjustified to blame it for its low graphic card as it is built primarily for work and not for play.

On the storage side, 4TB is more than enough for even aggressive users. The SSD storage type is for OS and other frequently used heavy duty applications. 64 GB RAM is not the maximum this laptop can take, but is enough for nearly all types of computing tasks.

15.6″ Full HD Display is the new norm in high-end laptops. If you are spending more than 2500 dollars on a laptop, it is the least you should expect.

The only major drawback is the weight of the laptop, but what you get as a trade-off is military grade build-up for strength and durability. It is by all means a rugged laptop that does not fail you in dangerous and extreme conditions.

CPU: 8th Generation Intel i7-8850H 6-Cores | GPU: NVIDIA Quadro P1000 (4GB VRAM) | Storage: 7.6 TB SATA Solid State Drive | Screen Size and Display :15.6″ Full HD (1920×1080)  | Weight (lb): 4  |  Dimensions inches:  14 x 10  x 1 | Warranty: 1 Year Limited warranty

Dell precision 5530 is a workstation that competes neck to neck with other workstations on our list. It is closest to the Hp Zbook 15 we discussed above, in performance but has massive storage, ultralight design and a manufacturing warranty as to its definite advantage.

8th gen Intel i7-8850H is the best performer among the 8th gen processors by the company. To give you a hint, it can handle scores of tabs, can effortlessly handle massive data sets, and last but not least, can handle complex mathematical applications.

NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics is a low-end chip when compared to GTX and RTX graphics, but has an improved performance level over all the integrated chips. You can play graphic taxing games at lower to medium settings.

7.6 GB SATA SSD storage is overkill for normal users. However, if your job involves 3d Rendering or video editing you can make full use of the storage capacity.

15.6″ Full HD display is a major disappointment, especially when you have to pay over 3000 dollars for it.  In this price range, you are right to expect a 4k display no matter if it meets your job requirements or not.

This laptop has aced all the benchmarks for cooling so no need to worry on that part. As a plus, you won’t have to buy a separate cooling fan for it.

Dell deserves appreciation for its extremely lightweight design in this laptop. It weighs 3 lbs less than its head to head competitor: Hp zbook 15. But the company has failed to make it a thin laptop. Another major disappointment is its short battery life which would at maximum get you 4-5 hours at full charge when running on its full capacity.

CPU: Intel 8th Gen i7-8550U Quad-Core | GPU: NVIDIA Quadro P500 2 GB | Storage: 1 TB NVme Solid State Drive | Screen Size and Display : 15-inch Full HD display (1920×1080)  | Weight (lb): 4.39  |  Dimensions inches:  14 x 10  x 1 | Warranty: 1 Year limited warranty

Lenovo ThinkPad P52s is a workstation for buyers who don’t want to spend a fortune for a decent machine.  It matches the performance of a regular PC with the obvious advantage of portability. Also, it is lightweight, even by the standards of regular  workstations.

With the 8th Generation Core i7-8550U processor, Intel has compromised performance to make the processor energy-efficient. With only 15W power consumption, as all the processors in this series, this chip is light on battery. It is safe to expect a 30% performance lag when compared to its power-hungry H and G series cousins.

It is seriously a shame to not have a powerful dedicated graphics card on this laptop. You will have to rely on NVIDIA Quadro P500 2 GB graphics which while running graphic-taxing applications will almost always lead to bottleneck, and therefore, frustration.

Given the budget constraints, the inclusion of the 1TB NVme  SSD drive is praiseworthy. It is by far the fastest storage type available in the market.

In a budget workstation, 15-inch Full HD display is yet another commendable feature. As it is an IPS display, you won’t end up complaining about the color saturation, contrast ratio, or the viewing angle of the screen.

Finally, you will get a pretty solid battery life out of it for the reason that all its components are power-efficient.

Final Verdict:

As laptops with 64 GB RAM are categorized into two broad categories, gaming laptops, and workstations, we will round up two winners for each. The budget will be our key criteria while picking the top laptops as those who deliver solid performance without making a cyclopean hole in your pocket deserves to be highlighted.

MSI GF-65 tops the list of best gaming laptops with 64 GB RAM. The reason, obviously, is their affordable price tag. But that alone is not its selling point. This laptop comes with the latest, most powerful, processor, and graphic card available in the market.

Intel 9th Gen i7 processor is the most favorite chip of high-end laptops manufacturing companies these days and will take nearly a year to fall from favor.

Similarly, The RTX 2060 Graphics Chip is a top-of-the-line chip offered by Nvidia with a significant advantage of ray-tracing for realistic gameplay.
